Your Internet Access

As part of the Broadband Canada Program, Industry Canada undertook an extensive mapping exercise in order to understand the extent to which Canadians remain unserved or underserved.

The National Broadband Maps were prepared using publicly available data, input from provincial and territorial partners, other federal departments and agencies, and Canadian ISPs. On July 6, 2009, the maps were posted online and individual Canadians and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) were invited to provide feedback.

Over 2,100 Canadians and more than 80 Internet Service Providers across the country responded to our request for feedback regarding broadband coverage and availability. Updated maps were posted at the beginning of the Call for Applications on September 1, 2009.

Broadband coverage is constantly expanding as the private sector and other levels of government continue to invest. Information received during the Call for Applications, as well as coverage information included with the applications themselves, has now been reflected in the Interactive National Broadband Map.
